Exercising with the WII

My wife has wanted the WII Fit ever since we got the WII.  I was watching Fox News one day and they were talking about the EA Sports Active and I was interested.  So my wife had her birthday and I got the EA Sports Active instead of the WII Fit.

WII EA Active

I don’t have the Wii Balance Board but read that you don’t need to to play the EA Active.  Having said all this last night I tried the game/workout for the first time.  I have to admin that it was enjoyable and it was a good workout.  Being my first time I setup my person and selected the easy muscle toning workout.  The workout took about 27 minutes even with the explinations.  I worked up a mild sweat and could feel a mild muscle burn.  The workout was not overly difficult or strenuous.

Being completely out of shape I could feel a little soreness this morning when I woke up.  I highly recommend the EA Sports Active and soon I will be taking the 30 day challenge.  There are a lot of features in this game that my wife and I haven’t even started to explore.  I think this will help us get in shape and has a lot of options to keep you interested and motivated.

Fashion Show at Bay Valley Resort

I had the pleasure of being the photographer at a wonderful fashion show at Bay Valley Resort in Bay City, MI last night.  The hors d’oeuvres were excellent and the staff at the resort was great.  This fashion show was first class from start to finish.  The music and sound was provided by High Fidelity Entertainment and the show was a promotion for the new Fashion Plate segment that is part of Review Magazine.

Street Boss Movie

I’m looking forward to finally being able to see the premiere of Street Boss.  I had the pleasure of working as a still photographer on the set at several locations around Saginaw, MI and at Jackson Prison last summer.  There were a lot of great people and I also got in a scene as an extra.  Of all things I played a crime scene photographer.

Web Design & SEO

I’ve been making websites since 1992.  A lot has changed over the years but a lot has remained the same.  Onlinemarketing and shopping is still in the growth stage of market development.  This is very obvious when I look at the amount of businesses in Saginaw, Bay City and Midland that don’t have websites.  I remember a few years ago reading that any business that doesn’t have a website will be obsolete.  This is not the case yet but I do see that businesses with a good online presence are poised for the future and are getting business that they may have missed.

I’ve decided to get back into the website design business and also start utilizing my SEO (search engine optimization) knowledge for other businesses.

I’ve been the Internet Marketing Director at Labadie Auto Company for over 6 years.  The Labadie websites are huge and require a vast amount of skill and knowledge.  My exposure through Labadie has allowed me to develop a new site for the Bay City River Roar and I’m now working with the Labadie Pig Gig website.

Last Minute Photo Shoot

I got a phone call and had to throw together a photo shoot really fast.  The model got the clothing and makeup done in Saginaw and they drove to Bay City for the shoot.

It was about 4pm in the afternoon and there was not a cloud in the sky.  No assistant and all my equipment was in Saginaw.  I simply had a model, camera with 3 lenses, a great location and full blasting sun!

The pictures turned out great.  Now we need to decide which one the client is going to use for their magazine ad.

Internet Growth

I’ve been working with websites and the Internet since 1991.  I remember working for a major publishing company and suggesting that we put our content on the Internet (at that time a graphical bulletin board that was dead 6 months later because of the browser).  When I suggested it to the president of the publishing company he turned me down saying, “I don’t see how we’ll make any money.”  Well this guy is no longer the president of the publishing company but the Internet continues to grow.  In fact today more and more newspapers and magazine are stopping print copies and going to completely digital.

So here we are 16 years later and I still hear businesses say that they don’t understand how they will make any money being on the Internet.  Forrester is predicting an 11% increase in online sales for 2009 which in a down economy is huge!  They predict that this online shopping growth will come at the expense of physical stores because people are shifting where they get their information.

You don’t have to be a retail store to understand that if you’re not on the Internet you need to be.  With the 30 and under crowd most don’t even have a phone book in their house or apartment.  They want information – they look it up online.  How about TV?  Most of the younger generation is now watching TV shows online.  With sites like Hulu what is that going to do to your local TV advertising?

If you have any type of business and you do not have an online presence you need one.  This information sounds like deja-vu from a few years ago but we are still in the same place.

Springtime in Mid-Michigan

Springtime is here is Saginaw, MI.  I have decided that I’m going to work on my nature photography this summer.  I don’t really seem to have an eye for nature so I want to improve.  After a hard winter it is nice to see the spring bulbs starting to flower!

Beautiful Day in Michigan

Is spring finally here?  It is a beautiful day in mid-Michigan today.  Being a Friday I got stuck at my desk most of the day.  I had to get out for a little bit though.  I took a few pictures of some new 2009 GMC Acadia’s for www.LabadieGM.com

Spring Home Improvements

Spring seems to have finally arrived in Michigan.  Like last year I have lofty goals for working on the house and yard.

Two years ago be purchased a beautiful house in an up-scale older neighborhood in Saginaw, MI.  We knew this house was going to be a 10 year project but we may have underestimated.  This may be a 15 year project!

this old house project

The past two years I done a lot to remove the overgrown landscaping and we haven’t been able to add any new – because there is a lot more old to remove.

The huge project that I’m going to start to tackle this summer is taking the paint off the cedar siding.  Luckely the paint was not done properly and it is all starting to flake off.  With thousands of square footage this will probably take a few summers.

This summer my plan is to start with the entryway on the front.  This will give some curb appeal.  Then I will start at the back of the house where no one will see me working.
