Photographing Cars in Full Sun

Taking photos in full sun is always a challenge.  Trying to photograph a car in full sun adds more elements because the glass and paint are reflective surfaces.

Here are a few tips for photographing a car in full afternoon sun:
1.  If you have one use a circular polorizer.
2.  Move the car into an area where there are little or no trees or buildings that will reflect on the car surfaces.
3.  Position the car where the sun is hitting the side and front of the car.  Make sure the side you are shooting is not in a shadow.
4.  Move to the side and up and down while looking in the view finder to eliminate as many harsh sun reflections.  Especially watch the reflections coming from the headlights.

The image below of a 2005 Chevy Impala was taken if full sun with no polarizer.  Notice how far the row of trees is in the backgroud but still reflects off the top side of the hood.
